National Association of Family Child Care Accreditation (NAFCC)

National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) Accreditation indicates that a Family Child Care home has met high-quality program standards. Family Child Care Providers can achieve Step 6 on the Career Lattice if their home has been NAFCC Accredited. The accreditation process begins when a provider completes an application.  Once the application has been processed, the provider completes a Self-Study. During the Self-Study, providers evaluate the quality of their child care program and identify areas of concern and make improvements.  Providers also need to complete 90 hours of training. Once the Self-Study is complete an observation of the child care home is conducted and a decision is determined.  For more information please see the NAFFC website at http://www.nafcc.org/include/default.asp.
