What is the Minnesota Registry?
The Registry is a voluntary, statewide program to document and recognize the professional achievements of people who work in the early childhood education and school-age care profession. The Minnesota Registry provides recognition to practitioners who climb a Career Lattice. The Steps on the Career Lattice are in a sequence from Foundational Awareness through Step 12 c. Each step represents increased training and education in the Minnesota Core Competencies content areas. Click here to find out more.

Who can get involved with the Minnesota Registry?
The Minnesota Registry is designed to meet the needs of professionals in Minnesota who work in:- Early childhood and education (in family child care; center-based care; and family, friend, and neighbor caregivers)
- Early childhood special education
- Early intervention
- Public education (kindergarten through grade 3)
- Family support
- Head Start/Early Head Start
- Higher education
- Home visiting
- Parents and Guardians
- Prekindergarten
- School-age care
- Child Care Resource and Referral
- Other early childhood programs and settings

How can I get involved with the Minnesota Registry?
Anyone who discovers ways in which the Minnesota Registry will help you can be involved.
- Practitioners who work directly with children and youth in an early childhood and school-age age care setting (family child care providers, center-based staff, and family, friend, or neighbor caregivers).
- Trainers who provide training, education, coaching, mentoring, consulting, or technical assistance to direct care providers.
- Direct care or training sponsor organizations who want to advertise their training events and/or have training approved by the Minnesota Center for Professional Development.

What is the Saint Paul Cohort Model?
A cohort is a group of early childhood professionals sharing this common learning experience at the same time. At the Saint Paul College the courses are offered online with occasional daytime meetings. For more information, visit the Minnesota Association for the Education of Young Children (MNAEYC).

What are Core Competencies?
The Minnesota Core Competencies serves as a guide for practitioners to improve measure and demonstrate their work with children and families. The Minnesota Core Competencies are divided into eight content areas with each content area separated into five levels. The levels build upon one another beginning with the basic requirements for a practitioner new to the field to a professional who has both experience and education that reaches the master’s or doctorate level.
