Relationship Based Professional Development Background

In 2007, The Minnesota Center for Professional Development became the recipient of the MNSMART web site, with the charge to review and update the resources based on current research and best practices.

The MNSMART work was part of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Professional Development Planning. MNSMART was charged with making recommendations for the implementation of a system of comprehensive and integrated relationship based professional development services (RBPD), as a strategy to meet professional development needs throughout Minnesota. The hope was that this MN DHS supported relationship based professional development (RBPD) system would ultimately define, infuse, coordinate and advise practices of coaching, mentoring, consultation and technical assistance as professional development strategies.

We are pleased to say that the solidly grounded and widely respected work accomplished by MNSMART from 2005 to 2007 was a significant contribution to the field, and created a springboard for continuing and expanding the work.

As the archivist as well as recipient and revisor of the MNSMART files, we are pleased to make them available on our site.
