Hunger Impact Partners, a non-profit organization working with the Minnesota Department of Education to promote free summer meals for kids across the state needs help getting the word out to kids and the adults in their lives who can benefit from free summer feeding sites. They have created a Public Service Announcement (PSA) on Summer Eats Minnesota for your use: http://youtu.be.RHT-G-NNQsg
They are targeting schools, community organizations and others so together we can increase participation in this important nutrition program for kids. We’ve made this easy by including the information below on a mobile app, a texting number, and an online map locator. The website www.summereatsmn.org offers additional information and promotional materials that can be downloaded and printed or circulated electronically. Please note that although these tools are being updated weekly, they will not be totally up-to-date until the school year ends. Many sites are still working to finalize their schedules so don’t worry — the resources will be fully operational in time for summer break!
Please share this information on summer meals in your current communication efforts through handouts, newsletters, websites, and electronic mailings in advance of the official kick-off of summer. All kids up to age 18 can locate the nearest site, show up at the right time, and eat. No registration or prior sign-up necessary. There are free serving sites across the state at school, parks, recreation centers, community centers, and libraries.
